Empowering the Economically Weaker Sections
The Trust is focused completely and is putting all the required effort to uplift the economically weaker sections of the society. The ones who are very needy & come from very poor backgrounds. They are not just economically challenged, but also struggle to find opportunities and platforms to showcase their talent and competence.
AVTAR EDUCATIONAL TRUST (AET) is a social enterprise run by retired officers of the Defense forces and civil servants, catering to formal primary education for children of economically weaker sections and also imparting multiple livelihood skills.
AVTAR Educational Trust (AET) has been in existence since the year 2008, registered under the Societies Act at Jagatpura, Mohali. The Heritage Public School (HPS) was established in the same year under the aegis of the Trust as a social enterprise, catering to formal primary education for children of economically weak sections.

Quality Education, Values & All-Round Development
(a) The school aims to provide the students with knowledge and multiple skills to prepare them for life with quality education and values keeping global competition in mind. The ideology of the school believes in imparting such level of education so that these children can stand shoulder to shoulder with their urban counterparts. There is a need for all-around development of the child, with performance in academics, activities, and facilitating them with audiovisual aids, performing arts, and modern teaching methods.
(b) To inculcate a sense of competition and learning at the same time, we have been holding quiz competitions, inter-house recitation competitions, and so on. From spoken language to motor skill activities, the school has been striving to achieve the best results.
(c) Regular awareness camps are organised in collaboration with other trusts and societies to make the population aware of issues like skill development, employment opportunities, health, hygiene, savings, and investments etc.
HPS maintains standards of conduct not only in compliance with PSEB requirements but also to enable its students to compete with students in urban centers.

Women's Empowerment & Community Awareness
The Trust also passionately believes and works for women empowerment. Rural women are key agents for achieving the transformational economic, environmental and social changes required for sustainable development. But limited access to credit, health care and education are among the many challenges they face. Empowering them is key not only to the well-being of individuals, families, and rural communities, but also to overall economic productivity, given women’s large presence in the workforce.
AET organises skill enhancement and awareness camps regularly for the economically weaker sections of villages around Jagatpura, in collaboration with corporate houses, trusts and hospitals. We believe that vocational skills, access to financial facilities and health are the major impediments in the growth of the economically weaker sections. We constantly engage in bridging this gap.
Free camps on cancer awareness, health and hygiene, eye check-ups — besides corporate houses conducting sessions on communication skills, computer literacy and similar activities — are a regular feature with the Trust.
AVTAR Educational Trust (AET)
AVTAR Educational Trust (AET), dedicated to the memory of S. Avtar Singh Sandhu, a civil servant, a visionary and passionately passionate about the education and skilling of the underprivileged, has been in existence since the year 2008, registered under the Societies Act at Jagatpura, Mohali.
The Heritage Public School (HPS) was established in the same year under the aegis of the Trust as a social enterprise, catering to formal primary education for children of economically weaker sections.
In the beginning, before the foundation of the institute was laid down, the premises was a water pond and an eyesore; however, it now quenches the thirst for knowledge of the children of this area. From very humble beginnings with only forty children to over 400 children on active rolls, at present, the Heritage Public High School has become a hub of learning and developmental activity for the economically weaker sections of the surrounding area.
Over the years, sustained hard work of the trustees, associate trustees and the staff has resulted in the upgrading of the School to the secondary level as well as affiliation with the PSEB (Punjab School Education Board). Throughout its growth, the HPS has financially sustained itself, albeit with the support of the Trustees, since the revenue from the clientele is insufficient to run all the necessary activities efficiently.
We take great pride in stating that the school has registered 100% success in the Board examinations conducted for classes V, VIII and X by the Punjab School Education Board every year.
HPHS maintains standards of conduct not only in compliance with PSEB requirements but also to enable its students to compete with students in urban centers. Providing a well-equipped computer lab to power up students to face the digitized world of today, a sports complex to promote physical fitness, and imparting education in English medium are the differentiators acknowledged by the environment.
